Classroom Support

With every new day, the teaching profession is becoming more demanding. Changing times, newer perceptions of children and learning, changing technologies … require teachers to not only keep abreast of newer information, but to continue to professionally respond to newer demands.

This section will endeavour to support you with just that. The content resources you need to keep up with the times, the media resources to make your teaching more effective, all the books, readings, activities and projects for you and your children. And if you need to consult someone, look up the contacts, a directory of resource persons.

Media Resources

Seeing, hearing, touching, or smelling the real thing is certainly the best way to know about things. Providing such opportunities is therefore very essential to enrich children's experiences. But it is not possible to provide a first hand experience of every thing that we wish to help the child learn about. When the real thing is beyond the reach of the child, using a picture can be of help. In many cases it can also initiate and motivate children to observe the real thing. Exploring remote environments become very convenient.

Download these pictures. Use them singly or as slideshows. Let us know how you used them.

Bookshelf

Books are not only the treasure house of knowledge, but also the essence of the lives and experiences of some of the best minds. Books written at different times in different places give us a glimpse into those times, those cultures and the thoughts that shaped our world. Books therefore can inspire. Every book has something to offer to everyone.

You will find in this constantly growing collection, resource books, biographies, literature and stories for children, written by fellow teachers and great thinkers.

E-courses

Courses are a structured way of encountering content. In addition, here you can take the courses at your own pace, taking small chunks at a time, revisiting them as many times as you want.

The courses are designed keeping in view the common needs of teachers, educators and even parents. Each e-course has its own set of objectives and structure, allowing you to decide your path through the course. While some of the courses are only a set of readings, others incorporate interactive features such as discussion forums and workshop sessions. All e-courses allow you to evaluate yourself as you progress. You may also at any point in time seek expert help.

Additional Resources

You will find in this section, a range of writeups clarifying different methodological, psychological and theoretical issues in education. A section on Kannada resources is also included here.
